This is an existing reader profile for NME readers, it is highly detailed with many figures relating to what kind of people read the magazine. This reader profile shows the breakdown of the type of people who buy the magazine, this will help decide what kind of articles, features, artists and adverts will be put into the magazine and how effective they will be on the reading audience. The figures on the reader profile are exact and cover a wide range of things including very important aspects of who buys the magazines like the percentage of which gender buys it where a whole 69% of readers are Male. This will real help the publishers of the magazine advertise to the larger male audience and also include articles that are more written in a style familiar and common to males, but also importantly not forgetting to include things that females would enjoy as this would be counterproductive. One thing that this reader profile does lack is artists and what kind of artists the readers listen to and enjoy which is a main factor in the readers of the magazine however this could be unimportant as the magazine has its own genre already in place, and the readers choose the magazine due to its genre. However it could help by deciding what kind of prizes can be won because the magazine can pick a large audience to aim them at. Overall I think that this reader profile is very effective with its dense amount of sums and clear target audiences that will really help the magazine publishers decide what they would put in the magazine.

This is a breakdown of what feedback we recived from our focus groups. With this and research of existing magazines similar to mines price and freequency. most being priced from, £2.50 to aound £4, i have decided my magazine will be priced at £3.20 because it would be a higher end magazine but within an accesible price. Also my magazine will be a once monthly magazine because of the kind of big celebrities i would want in this magazine due to there audience appeal, also i will be able to focuse on a whole new chart rather then every week where the music charts will bearly change in such a short time.

College magazine evaluation
I will be
evaluating my Media Studies project of producing a college magazine front cover
and mock up contents page.
I produced
my college magazine on a programme called Photoshop and by taking pictures.
When I started on my college magazine project I first did some research into
the industry by looking on Google at college magazines and also magazines of
all kinds to work out some trends in the style. I then started to make mood
boards and mock ups using pictures from the internet and I then reviewed what I
liked best and the kind of style I wanted to use in my actual magazine and
which ones will be practical to make myself.
To get my
desired picture I had to choose the person I wanted and then I had to decide
the sort of clothes I would want for him to wear then I decided I would take my
picture on a plane background so it would be easy to cut the image out, the
only problem with doing it on a green background was that the green leaked on
to the models skin and made the edge of the picture look green which was hard
to get rid of, it took careful erasing to get rid of it.
My target
audience for my college magazine would be college students from the ages
of 16-21 years old specifically. The
style of the magazine helps appeal to that kind of audience for example the
style of clothes the model wears and the age and look of the model himself also
the style of the writing for example “tips and tricks on pre-term organisation”
this appeals to my audience by talking about college relevant terms. Also the
simplicity helps appeal to the reader of most ages and intelligence.
My magazine
would be sold inside the college which will attract the right kind of audience
to my magazine to start with but then also the style of the front cover using
positive colours and fonts such as green and blue plus some neutral style
fonts, also the cheap price of the magazine will be affordable for any of the
college students to buy.
My product
is represented in a light hearted way that would be accessible to any of the
students in a college, the use of bright neutral colours help to portray it in
a positive manor.

Preliminary Exercise Brief:
Using DTP and an image manipulation program, produce the front page of a new school/collage magazine, featuring a photograph of a student in medium close-up plus some appropriatley laid-out text and a masthead. Additionaly you musrt produce a mock-up of the layout of the contents page to demonstrate their grasp of DTP.
